I think that I will be upgrading my suspension over this summer, my control arms and springs, etc are starting to rust. It looks bad and I plan on keeping this truck at least 5 more years. If not completely overhauling it mechanically at that point... the interior is just as when I bought it and keeping it til it breaks down back into the dirt... lol. Anyways I fgure it would be a good investment. These are somethings I will also add over the summer, not necessarily in this order. Probably all at once...

1. Amsoil dual bypass filter setup

2. Borgesson steering shaft

3. DSS

4. Ladder bars (when I get new suspension)

5. Fleetguard blow by bottle fix

6. Magtech pans (Diffs and transmission)

I want to know which suspension I should get... I would like to stay around 1800 or less for the suspension all said and done. I will spend more if needed but I will need a good reason. I am not sure which to get or what level. I dont want my truck to sit much higher... its big enough. My question is Kore or Lorenz? Which one... Why? I dont really tow and I dont use my truck off road a lot so I dont really need the top of the line one ( unless its cheap which its not). I am swinging towards the Kore stuff though.

I will be buying the chase control arms, chase steering damper, and billet shock towers if I can. Other than that I am open. If you guys lnow retail prices post em..... MSRP at least.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't all of Kore's stuff for 3rd Gen trucks and your sig says that you have an 01. 5. If they are making parts for the 2nd Gens I'd be interested also. I've looked several times on their sight and everything I saw was for 03 and up.

Regards, Mike.

DWeiler, I just jumped onto their web site and all the suspension systems say for 2003 to 2007. I believe you and I'll guess I'll call them because I'd like to get the HD leveling kit and put 5100 shocks all the way around.

JamesThomas, Sorry to Hijack your thread but I never investigated Kore any further after looking at their web site. I thought it was only for the 3rd Gen trucks.

So it looks like Carli or Kore... . now what? Does one ride better than the other? DWeiler hoe do you like yours?

Seriously James, Call Don tomorrow! He hasnt even released his new kit yet, but from what I have seen... they look bad *** and sounds like it might finally be a setup that will fix the handling issues with our trucks. Personally, if I hadnt purchased a Fabtec kit last year, I would go with Dons stuff! I know I plug Dons stuff alot, but its because I have talked to him for hours on the phone about different design ideas and have even pushed him to produce a kit for our trucks that was more geared to toward small to medium lifts but more concerned with handling properties than flex.

Here is a teaser pic of what is to come from Don... its a long arm radius setup system. In alot of ways, it mimics the new superduties radius arm setup on the new furds. (a good thing)

Again, please talk to Don. I dont want to give away to much info as I dont know what he has decided on releasing out in the open yet. his phone number is on the site I listed a link to earlier!

Jim,

I looked at some of the links on this post and saw prices ranging from $4k+ for kits (that didn't have control arms) down to $1,300 for just 4 reservoir shocks? Can you say "ala carte". I've got some control arm bushing issues also and, for about a year or so have been shopping for a "complete kit". I, like you, don't want to spend tons of green and don't off road much. Let's face it the weight of these trucks doesn't compare to the little Jeeps and Toyotas and going crazy off road in our trucks can be hazardous to their health, unless properly equipped to handle the trenches. Furthermore any system/kit will be an improvement over the stamped steel factory stuff. Look how long the factory stuff lasted - so if we were to go with a lesser quality (and expense) kit, which was more all inclusive as far as components included and less $$$ whatever we chose would more than likely out last even the mighty Cummins.

So, what I've been considering is as follows:

For about $700. 00 shipped to your door, complete with new shocks, add a leave, front springs, track bar relocation arm, upper and lower control arms!

Also on the same site there are other kits;

http://www.topguncustomz.com/Store/products.php?S_ID=57.

I know I found other sites, but I was at home and they are on my PC there, I'm at work and need to get back to the things at hand.

So, just a few more things to think about for you.

I have a top guncustomz leveling kit right now (steel spacers) and the workmanship is ok but the coating is cheap... . they havy only been on maybe a year and they are already rusting worse than the factroy stuff that has been on there almost six. Just my experiance and I wont be buying anyting else from them. Thats what I get for getting a 50 dollar leveling kit I guess... .

I like mine, yes there are other options(now)but when i was looking at adding the Kore Recon system to my ride at the time i thought this was the way to go. The "others" were available but i knew/heard very little about them and how they performed. I chose Kore after asking many and even going down to the Kore distibutor up here and seeing first hand if this was what i wanted(6-9months thinking/researching/reading). Once it was on my truck i did notice right away the better handling/control/steering/ride---everything was better than the OEM crap that was on before. Where my parents live i could not go down the road(potholes/washboards) at more than 20MPH before losing control, now i can run easily 40-50MPH and maintain control. Overall this is what i wanted and works for me and my ride----i have even considered to buy the CARLI --dual front steering stabilizer for my truck but the wonderful woman that i married 10+ years ago surprized me with a front Mag-Hytec pan. The CARLI setup will not work with the Mag-Hytec pan,she will be really :-{} if i had to take that off my truck for something else. PS either one would probable work for you ---competition is a good thing/makes better products for us and helps lower costs to the consumer--- Hope this helps---my 2 cents

If you just want your truck to sit higher you may be ok with the topgun, but if you want to upgrade your truck so that you actually have better handling you have to step up and buy a Premium system.

I actually want it to ride better, especially since I plan on keeping this truck for a while. Its big enough as it is and I would think you could open the door to a whole new list of problems running 500 hp (I will be after I put all my goodies on) with a lifted truck. Which is something I dont want. Do remote resivoir shocks make that much of a difference for on road driving? That seems to be the only real diff I can see between the chase and the recon.

As others suggested, I'd also think you should talk to Carli. His starter system appears to be exactly what you are looking for.

I also want new control arms which KORE seems to be the only one without having to buy a "lift kit" or spending 4,ooo for the carli... so for the price I keep swinging back to kore... . can anyone answer my question about the diff between thr recon and chase other than shocks?

James the only difference between the Kore recon and the chase are the shocks. The Kore recon uses a custom bilstein 5100 series shock and the Kore chase uses a custom 2. 0 fox reservoir shock with a stem top for the front so you can use your factory towers with either system. Other than that they both use the same mini pak, front coils, and accessories. Both nice systems and are easy to install.

Did you call Don? I bet he could build a custom setup with custom valved shocks, and still give you a top notch system for less. Even if you dont go with Don, at least call him.

JAMES----Have you thought about dt profab contol arms----they are not as nice as the Kore ones but they are half the price and move the the axle back to stock location after the truck is lifted. I went this way because i spent enough and really just wanted the axle centered----just a suggestion/option to look at,save some bucks. PS---- they are meaty, good welds/quality,nice powder coating and come with better bushings/sleeves and not to bad to install either. my 2 cents. DW
