Does anyone else have this kit installed that thinks it made the ride significantly worse? Anyone?

I'm running 45 psi up front and 40 in the back on 305/70-17 Terra Grapplers (E rated).

I've checked and rechecked everything and on top of that I get some funky bumping noises up front that I just can't seem to isolate. It seems to be more noticable at slow speeds going over bumps (under 15 mph).

The ride really sucks. My kidney's ain't too happy. Any ideas?

hearingyourlies,

With a name like that, I wonder if I should even reply... There really is no way your truck should ride worse with a Recon system. I have been in many trucks like yours and every one has always been a more comfortable ride than stock.

I would probably try 35 in front and 30 in the rear with tires that stout though. That is what we generally run with tires of that size.

Give us a call at KORE and we will help you troubleshoot your problem. Ask for me if I do not answer.

I've spoken (over e-mail) with Chris Kelly at KLM Performance and he said I should check the track bar and control arms. On that note, everything seems fine.

As for 35 in the front and 30 out back, the problem is that Nitto only would give me stats going down to 35 for the load/inflation index - and at that psi, it's 2405 per tire. The max pressure of this particular design of tire is 65 - not 80. So that may be a factor, as well.

What is the telephone number where I can reach you?

On a side note, would the drivers side coil "appearing" to be developing rust in between the top two "coils" have anything to do with this, or is that just cosmetic?

Thanks for the reply and assistance.

The rust you are seeing will have no effect on performance.

Adjust tires according to feel. Nitto E rated tires are tough. We off road at extremely low pressures. There certainly aren't ratings for that either. 80 miles and hour across a dirt road is probably not in the factory load inflation index. We do not have problems doing that at 20 psi. Driving highways at 35 is not an issue.

I only have an issue when hitting bumps on one side. The truck rocks back and forth more noticeably than with the stock springs. In many situations the Bilsteins don't absorb the shock that the springs can endure. I'd like to compare the ride of the Fox shocks.

On the knocking, I had issues with my track bar being loose that only could be seen when moving the steering back and forth. The bolt that secures it to the axle really has to be cranked down. It's hard to torque acurately because there is so much friction on the bolt. My springs also move around alot - mostly off road with the sway-bar disconnected. They make alot of noise for a while until they get seated again.

I ended up buying an adjustable track bar after I installed my Recon system because the added height cause the factory track bar to pull the front axle towards the driver's side a bit. I'm very happy with the ride from my KORE suspension, but I do recommend checking the centering of the axle after you install it.
