I have a question for those of out there with one of the KORE suspension kits.

Am seriously contemplating going with the Chase system. My only question is I have the camper package and extra leaf overloads. The Chase comes with the mini rear leaf pack. Will I lose the camper package springs? Or do the minileafs replace different leafs than those. Either way anyone have one that tows heavy and if so how does it fare. I usually am empty but do on occassion tow about 12k for long distances. Do the mini packs hurt heavy towing/hauling performance?

Call Greg Boardman at DRC (866-361-1439) I'm sure he can help answer any questions. He was great to deal with and helped emmenssly on the phone during my install. Heck, he even helped me get my 35" Toyo O/C MT's that finally came in :)

IMO, there is no point getting the chase setup unless you run the mini-packs. If you need to handle extra weight it's time to bump up to airbags, and make sure to come up with a disconnect, as to not limit drop in the suspension when you are empty and want to haul *****... . Thats what I would suggest anyway... :)

I have the KORE package with the Bilstien 5000 shocks. Can't ever remember if thats the pace or chase. Anyhow, the mini-packs replace your stock overloads and the really heavy leaf on the very bottom of the pack. The mini-packs actually work better with my camper in than the stock springs did. Even when I had the air bags with stock springs it did not handle as well. You will get a little more squat with the mini-packs but the spring rates are much more linear. There is also much less sway with the mini's since you are not going off and on the overload pack on corners. Just for reference, my camper -fully loaded for a trip- weighs in at about 1800 lbs.

I have the KORE Race system with mini packs. I don't haul heavy on a normal basis, but do frequently carry a camper that weighs about 1500-2000 pounds. Originally, I didn't put the mini packs on and just left the stock overload leafs in place. I talked to Kent in detail about my set up and the type of driving I do. He recommended that I give the mini packs a try. I did, and I haven't looked back since.

I do tow occasionally, and on a recent trip, we drove from Northern, CA to Bend, OR. (about 500 miles). We were towing about 7000 pounds and the truck bed was loaded to the gills and then some (easily 2000 pounds in the bed). My wife drove the truck and said it rode like a cadillac and was totally controlled the whole time.

I would recommend talking to Kent or Greg and getting their take on it. If you go with the Race set up, there is some stuff they can do with the valving on the rear shocks that might help control the load as well.

good luck in your decision,

Marek

Thanks for the info. I will give Greg or Kent a call just wanted to hear from some other folks that also have real world experience towing with their setups.

BarryG,

I have towed a huge amount of weight with a KORE equipped truck. That being said, if you have a truck that squats down 1 inch with the stock springs and a heavy load, with the KORE mini pak, you should see the same effect. I don't believe that it lowers your weight rating, just changes the way it is handled. Like Marek says,"My wife drove the truck and said it rode like a Cadillac and was totally controlled the whole time. " The truck just works better. That was with 2000 lbs in the bed. That is more than recommended by DC.
