real quick post here, and will give a more in-depth one later when I have more time...



First off, I took my wastegate setup off. I was only seeing 36-37 PSI and it just wasn't pulling like I wanted it too... I think I had two problems with my design. First, my spring wasn't strong enough. I was using the same spring that I used on my HY35/9 when I tried to use a spring and turnbuckle setup to shut off that wastegate. . on the HY it only let me get 25 PSI. Secondly, the spring was rubbing on the oil return line. Not a lot, and not much pressure, but some, and I don't like that at all... I know that line is good and strong, but I just didn't like it. Also, I may have had the set-screw for holding the wastegate shut, opened up too far, alowing the wastegate to open to much and not building enough boost. What I'm thinking of trying is to use the spring mostly just as a return for the wastegate, so I don't lose any spool-up or bottom end, and using the set screw as a stop for the wastegate to control how much boost I actually get. Not sure it will work or that it's the right idea... I'm going to run it past Kurt first. Oh, and my setup was something like this... I had a 1" S-hook, crimped down on one end all the way, and most of the way on the other... just enough so one of the ends fits over the pin on the wastegate actuator. Next came a spring about 1. 5" long, and lastly was some aircraft safety wire. I put a bolt in the back (farthest from the actuator rod) hole on the turbo and safety-wired the spring to this, and then using a pair of "spin-pliers" as I call them (you can lock the jaws on the wire, and pull a knob on the back end, and it will spin the pliers to tighten the wire... very trick! ) and I tightened the wire down. Very simple, and to see the s-hook and spring I used, do a search for a post by "BigWhiteBeast" about using a turnbuckle setup on an HY35... I used the same stuff he did, and it can be had at Home Depot.



Lastly, we aren't going to the drags till next Friday, the 1st I believe, so I will report back then...
