It's been thought of before. As far back as 1 1/2 - 2 years ago, that I know of, in the diesel performance community. But until Kurt, nobody really took the initiative to market it.

Diesel Freak, Great Post on Intake charge Temps. I agree 100% that the biggest reason the hx40 lowers the Egt's over the Hx35 is the lower heating of air during compresson in the turbo.

I have realized thru testing that the drive pressure also effects over all Turbo performance (Spool up, Smoke & Egt's). On my Mildly Bombed 24V I have seen 10 psi lower drive pressures for the Turbine side of the Kwikspooled 12cm2 versus the Hx35 12cm2.

Lower DP means more of the intake charge enters the combustion chamber. And like DieselFreak posted the more O2 in the Combustion chamber the more power you get from a given amount of Fuel.

One other benefit of the lower intake Charge Temp is the combustion pressures are also lowered a little.

Every ones truck is different and getting all of your bombing goodies matched up will give you the best overall Driveability and Performance.

KatDiesel,DevilDog,Don M, Peter (SB), and Briar Hopper---- Thankyou all for the kind words! Your "W. O. P. " Checks are in the mail. (WOP="Words of Praise") ;):D

HemiDart, Yes I will sell housings seperate... They are easy to install. I set the wastegate as close as I can for the different customers but sometimes you must adjust them in the field. This is also "Very Easy" to do since the modification [PAT. Pending ;)] I do to makes it possible to adjust the boost in seconds on the truck with a pair of pliers.

Briar, Thanks for the kind words! :)

Are you trying to soften me up for a turbo?;)

Briar send me your address so I can make you up a Bumper sticker or Two;) :D something to do with your siG!

kat if you are hitting 1400 in up to level 3 you will see over 1500 in level 5 , you should take kurt up on that offer of switching to the 14cm housing , it may also take care of some of that traction problem you are having .

briar , good point , it is possible that the inlet did alot of the cooling of my EGT problem , but i do know i can now eclispe 100 mph and just be seeing 1400 where with my stock turbo i was at 1500 on a 0-60 blast and i know it went higher than that by the speed the needle went to 1500 , like as fast as the speedo went to 60 .

Finally got mine installed

Well, my kwikspool style 12cm2 housing is on, and it's incredible. Lag ? What lag? Wow. I'm getting large amounts of axle hop, so I guess it's time to get some of Steve's ladder bars.

I can hit 1500-1600 in the top levels (6 & 7) of my TST powermax box, but it goes back down instantly, hovers around 1300-1400.

Which is absolutely not worse than the old 16cm2 housing . About the same.

So I can see that the EGT's seem to stay the same, or in a lower level like 5, they are definitely improved...

It'll be a while before I get to see how it does while towing a trailer.

Thanks, Kurt ! You're something else ! :D
