Hi everyone. Have any of you use these shocks? The tire shop I use sells those and the owner spoke really highly of these shocks. I need to replace my front shocks. They are still the OEM, so I want to find out if they really are "the best" as he said:)

Otherwise I am considering the Bilstein, from Geno's. I bought the rear ones from them and I like'em.

Thanks.

The MonoMax are KYB's performance monotube shock. They should be stiffer than their GasAjust monotube shock. KYB's monotube design (at least in the GasAjust models) simply does not wear out. I've got 175K on mine (front and rear) and they're still holding up well. I took one off a while back to verify; it was only *barely* looser than one from the first set I used that only had 75K on them. By 'barely', I mean barely perceptible.

If you want a good shock that may outlive you, get the KYB. If you want a name, flashier colors and special doodads, and to spend more money, go for the Bilstein.

Me? I'll stick with KYB monotube shocks. I've been using them on my vehicles since about 1985 and I've never been dissatisfied with them. And I've never *had* to replace them. The difference between the OEM and KYB shocks on my 200SX and my Formula 350 was like night v. day. With the OEM shocks, they wallowed like pigs in mud. With the KYBs, they handled like the sport and muscle cars they were.

I have 4 of the KYB's on my truck and am very satisfied with their performance. Never had Bilstiens so can't compare. I don't tow or have a pick-up camper so they are all I need. I got them from Summit Racing for a good price. I think Rock Auto sells them as well... .....

Ditto, had the monomax put on about 6 years ago, but after the ride home I went back and swapped out the rears for their regular version. The empty ride was simply brutal, but I'm very happy with this setup.
