I towed my Race Trailer about 900 miles this weekend and noticed that when going up hills it appears to loose power between 3/4 & WOT. When I back off on the pedal the truck picks up speed. Has anyone noticed this with their trucks and if so does anyone know of cause and or cure.

Thanks

I have noticed something similar...

on mine. What my '99 does is that when I pull out to pass someone with the empty truck and put the GO pedal on the floor, decent acceleration; when I put the GO pedal about 3/4 of the way to the floor, the acceleration is a little better. Sometimes I forget about this little idiosyncricy (sp?) and put it to the floor and then remember and back out a little and the acceleration picks up a bit. :p It is considered normal around here and has been discussed before. I don't know of a fix. Not a big deal. :D

One more thing... it is less noticable since I put the EZ on, but it is still there.

I have also noticed that with mine. I have been pulling a load the past 2 weekends and realized it. You have to let off the pedal some and the truck feels like it picks up speed, but if you mash further down on it it loses speed quick. It is just like it's starving for fuel or something. I'm right there with you friend and I don't know what to do about mine to fix it, maybe someone will help us!

I thought it was my injector pump and I also thought it was the stock converter. I don't know but I sure would like to...

Mine is definitely not the torque converter. The converter stays locked all the time. My big concern with this as it should be with anyone towing is that our transmissions rely on throttle pressure to keep system pressure in check. While it does not bother me to back off the throttle for power it does bother me to back off the pressure to the transmission. I appreciate the replies but there should be more trucks out there with the same problem.

Thanks

Whens the last time you checked or changed your fuel filter. If the filter is getting dirty the amount of fuel flowing thru it is reduced and you notice it. I had a primeloc on my 99 and had to change filters every 2500 miles or the power would start to die above 3/4 throttle. I removed the primeloc and went back to factory filter with 5 new banjos and life is good. :D
