my brother has a 97 2500 5spd i was pulling a 2 place snowmobile trailer with 2 sleds and could barley get over 65mph unless i was going down hill. i checked the turbo fittings and it made a little differance, LITTLE:mad: any ideas??

I would check the AFC hose. It's on the top rear of the injection pump. The function of this thing is to restrict fuel delivery until boost has come up. If the hose is broken or disconnected it will run fine but no power.

A full boost pressure (leak) test to check for both connections (boots) plus that annoying line to that AFC.

Follow that with a fuel pressure check and overflow valve replacement.

how do i do a boost pressure check and a fuel pressure check what fuel pressure i'm i looking to check?? are these things i can do or do i need to take it to a shop?? and what excactly is the afc ??

On top of the rear of the injection pump there is a housing with a large plug that has a hex hole in it for an allen wrench. This housing is the AFC. There is a verticle cover attached to the rear of this housing with four screws. On the side of this cover toward the head is a fitting with a hose in it. That is the AFC hose. If it's broken, missing, or leaking the AFC throttle stop will not be pushed out of the way when boost comes up. If this happens it will run fine, but it will have no power.

In order to check fuel pressure and boost you will need gauges to do that. For fuel pressure you will need an adapter so you can connect the gauge to the bleeder screw on the fuel filter. For the boost pressure test you will need a fitting to replace a 1/8" NPT plug on the intake manifold to attach the gauge.
