Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Lacking Power

My dad has a 99 with 5spd with 4. 10 rears that is used everyday as a work truck. It has 74,000mi on it and it seems to be really down on power. I've changed the fuel filter and replaced to air filter with a drop in K&N. None of this helped... . any suggestions?

I've heard when the MAP sensor starts to fail you will get worse fuel mileage and a big decrease in power. I think they go for around $50. Although, it could be a number of things. Hope this helps.

JUST MORE QUESTIONS. Try the easy things first. Dragging brakes, clogged muffler, is turbo working(can you hear it wind down). Any other symptons. Hard to start.

Thanks for the help... . the turbo is working and the brakes dont drag..... guess i could look into the muffler idea

pull the IAT sensor and clean it

make sure the waste gate is not stuck open and check your clamps and boots for leaks

Does it rev but not develop power? If so needs to have the APPS reset what worked for mine was cycling of the key and accelerator and turning off, 3 times, then leave off for for over a minute. Then restart.
