Tail lamps have been a trouble spot. Check the bulb sockets and contact wires on the bulbs. Look for dark colored glass on the bulbs, and replace any that may be suspect. Use di-electric grease on the contacts.

This was my fix. Although all bulbs lit, there was one with a black smear on the glass. Replaced it and the lamp-out is gone.

Okay, overlooked the license plate lights, both were burned out, replaced them, all the other lights are working, the lamp out message is still there. Does this message go away by its self when fixed or does the system need reset somehow?

tested this. It goes out right away once the bad bulb is replaced.

From the Dodge service manual,

² Lamp Out Indicator Lamp-On Message -

Each time the cluster receives a lamp out indicator lamp-on message from the FCM indicating that an inoperative headlamp (low or high beam), turn signal lamp, or brake lamp (excluding Center High Mounted Stop Lamp [CHMSL]) circuit has been detected, the lamp out indicator is illuminated. The indicator remains illuminated until the cluster

receives a lamp out indicator lamp-off message from the FCM or until the ignition switch is turned to the Off position, whichever occurs first.

Good information.

My test was performed by turning the ignition off, replacing the bulb and then turning the ignition back on.

I had 1 of the 2 license plate lights go out and the warning came on, that was a couple years ago.

I think 1 is out now but no warning...

can't figure that
