Folks,

Keep getting a "lamp out" warning and ding without any actual burnt out lights!

Checked all the connections and lights (even the cargo and stop lamp on the cab) with no luck finding any problem.

I have a topper pigtail attached to the rear drivers side tail light assembly, which I have been looking at. I also disconnected it entirely to see if the problem still existed. And it does. It started with periodic warnings and dings, like a bad connection. Now it just stays on all the time. Anyone know what it could be?

Thanks in advance

Just worked on an 02 1500 with the same problem, drove me nuts..... The "light out" light only deals with the main lights on the truck, check your tail lights again, I found a bad connection on one of the lights was causing the light to come on. It was at one of the wires on the base of the rear brake lights. Check for corosion on dark spots on the base. I think that eventually all the socket assemblies will need replacement it is a poor design.

I had an issue with this recently also. I "believe" mine was caused by a bad connection in my RR clearance lamp. Bulb would intermittently go out and even when I got the warning it would be lit usually, changed out bulb, tightened up contacts and no more ding, ding, ding!

The connection from the bulb to the contacts is the problem. I used some dialectric grease on the contact points and fixed the problem.
