Happy birthday 1dslram ..

I have heard a little about them. Every opinion I heard was good. I don't have any personal experience with them though. Most of what I remember about them was from TechTV. I hope they know what they were talking about. It could be they were paid very well from the company for their reviews!

I've got a couple of Asus video cards (nVidia chipsets. ) They've been nice for the 4 years they've been on, running both Win2k and Linux.

No experience with their finished products, but all of their major component stuff seems to be at least okay.

Asus makes quality workstation and server motherboards. They are a good company. If you are asking specifically about their notebook line I am not sure. I can tell you that they probably buy the chassis and a few other compnonents from other companies and then use their own motherboards and related to assemble the notebook.

If you go on the quility of the motherboards then they would be a great notebook. I do not know how long they have been building notebooks and if this is a recent addition to their product offering I would wait until they work out more of the bugs.

If you are looking for a cheap and dependable notebook there are probably better alternatives with companies that have been doing it for a long time and specilize in notebooks. There are many out there!!
