JHardwick - did you get the Screen Holder from Jotto Desk; part no. 425-1302? It helped mine quite a bit... but I like being able to pull the PC close, or push it away when I need to...

Yup, I bought the screen holder ... ... ... ... . but now it appears that I need "Brace Kit - 425-5238" for another $51. 50

I'll probably just buy a piece of tubing and trangulate the upright to the base myself. It looks as thought the base itself is flexing. I just completed a 9,000 mile trip, and I sat it pretty low to the passenger seat and stuffed a pillow under it to steady it.

I use Microsoft Streets&Trips with GPS locator. I'm trying to eliminate my Magellan and one more power cord.

I have been using the Jotto along with Garmen's GPS for laptops and find it works well. I keep the laptop in front of the center council so that the top of the screen is about level with the top of the radio. This config is fine for the 48R but may not work with your six speed. It sounds like you have the horizontal bar stretched out away from the vertical support. This would give your mounting location allot of leverage and the computers weight will make it dance. I use a IBM T42 ThinkPad which is a fairly heavy 15 inch screen machine. My screen moves a little when on a bumpy road but I figure this is normal and acts as a shock absorber for the computer.

Seems to me that they set the center of mass too high. The upright should be the solid bar, with the extension tubing. They have the upright tube with the extension solid bar ... ... ... ... . puts the weight too high.

I also took my floppy out and added a second battery adding to the weight.

I run the passenger seat up against the upright to steady it a little - and, I didn't think about this before... I'm running a very small Dell notebook with just a 12. 1 screen - very light. The sides of my PC don't hang off the sides of the JottoDesk at all.

 I didn't even think about doing that, good idea to fix a $375. 00 unit #@$%!

I don't know how my 840 compares weight wise ... ... ... I did remove the floppy to add the second battery.

Actually no, I have all of the horizontals tucked back toward the upright. the center of the computer is almost centered over the upright shaft.

I sent them an email on the 21st, and haven't heard anything back.

I saw these in the latest PC Magazine and figured, "How can you go wrong with a 'Ram-Mount'???"

The real trick is to get the smallest and lightest laptop you can get. Weight is the biggest problem.
