I am ordering my truck soon and have decided on the Laramie "J" package because I DO NOT want the electronic shift on the fly and I dont need or want the fancy stereo. I do want the electric rear window but it looks like you can only get it on the "H" package (according to Dodge website). Has anyone been able to get the electric window in their truck in any version OTHER than the Laramie "H" package??

What benefit is there to the $700. 00 chrome/aluminum wheels verse the chrome/steel wheels? Are they worth it? I suppose they're lighter? (Too bad they don't offer 20" wheels like Ford does!)

Does the Laramie 40/20/40 seating arrangment actually seat 6? (I have 4 little ones and a wife)

I was in the same dilema when I bought my 05 I didn't want the electronic shift on the fly but did want a couple of the other items only avaible in the H pkg. I ended up with the H pkg and now I am glad I did. Also check to see if the chrome/steel wheels are like the 05' if so they are chrome clad a real hokey set up you won't like them. Go for the H pkg

Good luck

I like my H package.

Would have rather had the manual shift, but the electric sure is nice ;)

I ordered the H package on my 05 only because that was the only way I could get the three garage door opener "Home Link". I have two garage doors openers on my house plus a garage door opener on my barn. I don't care much about the electronic 4WD shift, but I understand the newer ones are much better now.

Yes they still have the "chrome clad forged wheels". In other words, its a forged alunimim wheel, that has a plastic chrome cover glued to the wheels face.

They look good if you can get over the fact they are plastic faced. I was thinking of having the dealer trade them off for the polished forged wheel, until I was noticing how much work my polished forged wheels on my camper were going to need in the spring :)

If you want full use of the center front seat get the elect switch for the tcase. That with the auto clears up the floor. If your going 6 speed all bets are off and the middle seat has no foot space. I have seen some trucks with just carpet and no console. They have foot space. The cup holder comes out of the dash. If your putting kids there I would put in the airbag switch.

Gifford,

I'm not sure if I remember correctly, but I don't think you can get a power passenger seat unless you get an H package. This option is nice to have for people 5'2" or under, like my wife. I have the Laramie H in my 2004 and like it. I know my wife likes it too. Her facial expression, when in the truck, looks like this :D, not like this :( She despises our 2001 SLT Sport, and on long trips it was miserable for her... me too, of course :-{} GET the H package!

Old school guy here, when it comes to four by's. I also didn't want the elec shift.

However the elec shift works with no problems. At first I thought if you get the "J" package and the manual shift on the fly the front drive shaft would not be spinning all the time, turns out they do. So the only thing the "J" is going to get you is less floor space. Get the "H" and all the other goodies that come with it, plus better resale.

Mac

I also wanted the manual T-case but I wanted the power rear window and the homelink more so I went with the H package. The truck I ordered is a stick so it doesn't help me any to have the knob instead of a lever.

Gifford, you can not get power slider in J pkg but is stanard in the H pkg. Kind of funny though that you can get pwr slider in a SLT not J pkg laramie. Also if you go with the H pkg you do not have any option on wheels. You can not get the forged aluiuium wheel, you only get aluminum chrome clad wheels which are a fake chrome cap. Totaly sucks what dodge did in the 06's H pkg. But there is nothing anyone can do about wheels. 05's Laramie's had the polished real forged aluminum wheels in the J and H pkg.

Hope this helps

Greg

All the '06's I saw on the lot last weekend had a plastic "console" cup holder deal on the front floor, even with the elec shift. Even without it I would be hard pressed to use the middle cushion for other than short trips.

The barn is not for farming, it my woodworking shop and storage. I have separate facilities for horses.

I wanted the manual transfer case also, but opted for the H package after learning about the J can not come with power rear slider, power front passenger seat and audio controls on steering wheel. And too many responses here and from a friend saying "you'll love the electric transfer case".
