I looked at another 03 today a 2500 built in 04/03 with an auto and it has the APPS as well. I thought all the "early" 3 gens had them. David

All auto trucks have to have the APPS on the engine to operate the TV cable off the bell crank. Manuals do not have that requirment so they could be moved off the engine for better life expectancy. There is a very good reason it is all moved ot the inside of the firewall now.

Most big trucks it's part of the pedal itself.

Yes. That's what I meant. I think Detroit was first with DDEC.

I think they were as well.

Built by Williams Controls, called a Throttle Position Sensor which is a replaceable part of the throttle pedal assembly

CAT offered early drive by wire throttle controls using a Bendix Potentiometer under the Go pedal rather than the Williams unit.

A wee bit o trivia.....

Mike.

So is there any known issues with this thing? I see there is a adjustment procedure for full fuel at full pedal.

Is this necessary?

MY 6spd early 04 truck APPS is under the battery, and hard to get and much more $ then timbo's. Not to mention a PITA to change. If you don't have it on your 6spd consider yourself lucky:D

My early '03 SO NV4500 (build date 08/02) had APPS mounted on the engine, too. And it had cruise buttons just like the OP. I relocated the APPS on my 04. 5 to under the intake horn so I could mount my secondary fuel filter up front/top like all the '05-up folks do.
