Just checked with Transfer Flow as I was curious why they haven't had anything released yet for the third gens (other than the in-the-bed tanks)...

Warren sez that he just checked with the R&D dept. and they should be releasing some new stuff for the 03-04. 5 Dodges in about 60 days!!!

Maybe if they are shown there is enough interest, they will start production soon. (Hint, hint!)

Sure would be nice to have a little extra range before fueling. (35 gallons is nice, but 55+ would be even better!:))

I have a toolbox tank, but not sure I'm going to use it in this truck as I really like having an 8' bed!

i have the short bed and dont want to loose any space in the bed but would love a larger tank but it would have to be at leat 55 gallons to justify the cost. And it would be nice if it helped with the filling issue too.

Is the 55 gallon figure based on solid information, or are you wishing for a tank that size? I agree that a 55er would be an excellent size for a fuel tank - that works out to a 990 mile range @18MPG and an 1100 mile range @20MPG.

Now the big question: Will it fit perfectly in the spot where the OEM tank is located?

When I called them last week they said that they need a truck for a week or two to do the R&D on the new tank. If I can get time off in the area I'll give them my truck for two weeks in exchange for a tank. :D I think that's a fair trade seeing as how many of them I believe they will sell when thier available. :D

I'm trying as hard as I can to get this job completed and get on to the next jobsite that puts me within an hour of Transfer Flow! Keep your fingers crossed...

Ditto same here! Also would be nice to have a drain valve too. :D

Crunch, they currently list a 54 for long beds & 45 for short... 02 and older trucks only.

Since they are designing from scratch... maybe we will be able to get something a wee bit larger!

The faster fill would be nice too, seems like that might be one of the drawbacks to the aft axle tank... . (They have a nifty split fill so you can use your existing fuel door... . but from the picture the fill tube looks kind of small!)

Check out www.supertanks.com replacement tanks, thier tanks are made just like the factory, a couple guys have them on GMs already and say they are great. I am waiting for them to come out with one for the Dodge. I would rather have the tank made from the stuff the factory tanks are made of than welded steel.

Supertanks looks pretty good. I added myself to their waiting list as they say the Dodge tanks are in developement. They were able to more than double the capacity of the Chevy and Ford short bed tanks, that would be sweet.

Maybe I am picky. I have looked at SEVERAL companies and can't find what I am looking for.

I want a tank/tool box combo unit. But I can't find one with the tool box that has these features... And yes I am picky :D

1. tool box has a single lid

2. tool box goes over bed rails

3. tank/box is lifted off the bed by 3-5 inches (I want to be albe to haul wood and such)

4. Tank connects to regular fuel tank or hose

5. I really don't wanna have to flip a switch to activate a second tank... Just use it as 1 big tank.

6. I wish I only had to fill the top tank and it fills the bottom one too...

Told ya I was picky :D

Try sending that to transferflow.com according to thier site they can custom make tanks but it probably comes with a "custom" price tag!

EEngel, its just a black steel 45 combo toolbox/tank I bought at Camping World... . can't remember who makes it.

I'm going to hang on to it as it's still in my old Dodge... and who knows, maybe I'll really miss not having a locking box to store stuff!

(Haven't had my new truck long enough to worry about what to do with all that extra stuff!) It was nice to have the space to take extra oil, star wrench, wheel chocks, etc. Have no idea where I'm going to put all that in my new truck!:(

Storage

DanDee,

Sounds good. I figured it didn't hurt to ask.

I'm sure you will find a nice diamond plate storage area in the new truck. :D

DOT says no to the idea of 1 big tank... . The fuel lines must come out of the top of the tank and use some method to pump it out. Gravity feeding from the bottom of the top tank into to the bottom tank is illegal (but alot of guys do it) hefty fines, and confiscating your tank and its fuel has been common practice of DOT police. You can hook the tank up like this and take your chances, but no one manufactures a tank specifily for this purpose!

Dennis,

Your right, the web site sez nothing about 4x2's, however I can't see why they wouldn't fit so I sent an email to Transfer Flow & I'll let you know what they say... .
