I'm getting close to needing new tires on my 03 4x4 Dually and would like to go with a little larger tire. What is the biggest tire anyone has used on the stock wheels and not installing any type of lift? I would like to go at least 265 or maybe 285.

I know the limiting factor seems to be the space between the duals. Has anyone one used a spacer to move the outside dual out further.

I have a buddy who has 315's on his Ford but had to use a 2 or 3" spacer as well as a lift kit.

Thanks for the help.

Also, what seems to be the hot tire in this size? I want a somewhat aggressive pattern, but yet still be civil on the road. I've had good luck with the BFG AT's on other vehicles.

315's fit the front of single wheel trucks, but I don't know if the narrower dually wheel will change anything. I assume it would. A tire that size looks a little off on a wheel that narrow. It will require a spacer in the rear, but I don't know how much. www.performancewheel.com has what you need.

The biggest limitation is the width of the wheels. At 6" wide, most tire makers don't recommend above a 235 section width. When I replaced my tires, nobody had even a 245 width that was recommended below a 6. 5" wide rim.

I got the stock size for now - I will probably go to 19. 5's when these are gone.
