About a month ago there was a discussion on radar and laser jammers, but I was not registered to post. I have been using the Blinder M-06HP laser jammer for over a year now and have been very satisfied with it. A police officer friend & neighbor was skeptical about it being able to jam his laser gun since he said he had ticketed dozens of guys with detectors and jammers. He brought the patrol car over one day and could not get a reading after 5 passes and gave up. Said it was the first one he saw that actually works. If any of the TDR members want to purchase one, go to www.blinders. theshoppe.com and tell them you are a TDR member to get a discount off the internet selling price.

I heard the HPD was big into Laser.
Fortunately the local law doesn't use
Laser (yet). I live north of Houston
Texas. They do love their RADAR, X, K
and lots of Ka, both front and rear
facing. . sometimes both!

I have a Valentine One which is an
awesome device. I am a gadget freak;
my friends sometimes call me Mr.
Gadget. I am into Ham Radio so of
course I have lots of radios and
antennas in my truck! And a GPS that
works in conjuction with the Ham so
I can be tracked while driving, kind
of like Lo-Jack. I can turn it off
though #ad
...

I probably should look into the
Laser Jammer since that seems to be
the thing of the future. Thanks for
the tip and sorry this got long!

Chris

Sorry if I seem skeptical but we have had this conversation numerous times before in he Viper Club of America bulletin board. We Viper owners are always trying to find ways to become invisable. Save your money! In order to blank police laser you have to transmit, which is illegal. You also have to transmit with a quantity of power that would make you glow in the dark. These types of devices are only found in the military and are way beyond any civilian use. Tom

I disagree. You need lots of power to jam RADAR, which is illegal since you are transmitting radio waves which is regulated by the FCC. On laser, you are only transmitting light. Laser is easy to jam because it is such a precise technology, whereas radar is almost impossible to jam unless you are transmitting tremendous amounts of power. If you would check some of the information by independent labs, such as Speed Labs, you will find that it does work. If it didn't, then how come my police officer friend could not get a reading on his laser gun? He would not BS me.

In Alberta Canada we do not have a front license plate. However, the LAW can still nail us with lazer pointed at the front of the oncoming 'speeder'... how come?

Scott1-the reason is simple. Lasers use infrared light-invisible to the naked eye, but even invisible light retains the properties of visible light. ANYTHING that reflects visible light also reflects infrared light-presto!! Headlights, grilles, bumpers etc all reflect. Any questions??

It's worth visiting the Blinder's web site, mentioned above, just to see how slow a site can load. It took me and my rural AOL 5 minutes to download.

enlighten me please. i read an article in the bmwcca mag "Roundel" which tested a jammer (damn me i can't recall the name and can't find the mag) and stated that the laser jammer emmitted a light to blind and confuse the laser. what is transmitted is light. last time i checked there is no law against emmitting light. matter of fact i think light emmitters are required safety equipment... . some call them head lights, tail lights etc. i could be wrong, but i doubt it.

americana, I know the magazine you are talking about but don't know the issue either.

tlippy, sorry it took so long for your server to download. I timed it and it only took 8 seconds with my cable modem.

for all those who have doubts about being able to jam laser, especially the Viper owners, go to www.radar.co.nz/usa/usarticle4.html
some real good info there.

KOA - loaded just fine today. I want the M-10. I've been waiting for it's introduction and reports. I like the "under hood" out of sight installation. I too am a gadget guy and it will be worth the $350 to see the cops face when he passes and can't get a reading.

tlippy,
Both units are the same size and mount the same way. Difference is M-10 is passive and is activated only when the beam hits the unit and triggers it. Laser Echo works same way and some tests have shown it was possible to hit the vehicle without setting off the unit. I prefer the older M-06HP because it is an active jammer that is on all the time, plus $200 cheaper. But it is great to pass a cop and have them give you this funny look as to "Why couldn't I get a reading on this guy?" Had that happen many times. Be careful, slow down when you see them because if you just go blasting pass you might piss the cop off and have him give you a ticket for reckless driving. Don't need a speed reading on his laser for that.
