Ok,

Let me set up the situiation. If my wife finds out that I am going to do this next BOMB, she will probably divorce me, but it's one of the GOTA HAVE IT things.

I currenlty do quite a bit of towing, check out my setup on the Readers Rides link. Most of my towing is out of the Phoenix area into the mountains, and the grades up these mountains are quite tough most of the time, and most of the time, it's real hot outside. Here is my problem.

I have added the gauges, added the Scotty Air II, removed the muffler, kept the resonator. See sig at bottom.

The gooseneck trailer with camper on the trailer and rockcrawler on the back probably weighs in around 13K without the Dually/Tow Rig attached.

I don't have EGT issues, fuel pressure is fine, I was running hot until I cleaned out the junk in the bottom of the radiator from the Blow By Bottle.

The problem I have is when I hit the big mountain grades, I just slap run out of power, sometimes I end up in 3rd smacking the skinny pedal, just to get up the hill. Most of the time I'm smacking the skinny pedal in 4th, and have nothing left for saftey or any reserve for power. I really want more useable power up the hill/mountain.

I have been lurking on this site now for quite a bit of time, and based on the amount of posts I have read, it seem like the time to get some injectors. I have read posts until my eyes are crossed, and I still have mixed feelings as too what type to BOMB too.

Now I need your help in making the decision as to what to upgrade to. When thinking about what is going to work for me, please make sure you consider that it's always hot in this state, and cooling is always an issue in the hot season, but also keep in mind, that I need more power to make it up the hill.

I'm not looking to make it up the mountain/grade doing 75 MPG, but anything better than 35/40 on the steep stuff would be better than I'm doing now.

I'm a very conservative driver when it come to clutch etc... The clutch that's in the dually now, was replaced right before I bought it, with a factory spec. So I don't plan on replacing the clutch anytime soon, unless the wife is going to leave me with the kids :), and if I did replace the clutch, she would really leave me with the kids.

So, the question of the day... ..... What Injectors based on the above background information provided will be what I am looking for?

All and any comments are appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Get yourself a set of RV275 injectors (or any manufacturers stage I), $300 - $700.

Getting a 14cm turbine housing for your turbo would help a little as well for another $150 - $300.

Or there is the Snow Performane Water/Methanol injection system - $500.

Beyond that, it will be time to think of upgrading the clutch to either a LUK performance clutch, or a South Bend con OFE.

The thing you want to do is increase the boost pressures. I would do things in the order listed as money permits.

maybe an edge ez would be good enough? e-bay for like $300 thats an easy hide from your wife add on 65hp and not over your buddy's hous all day putting injectors and what not into your truck.

He already has an EZ. . See his sig. . I'd go for some 66 hp injectors from Don M. Contact Bob Wagner to get the injectors.

I would skip the 275 rv injectors since they don't offer much power.

Disclaimer: not affliated with any vendor.

If I read your sig right, I would open up your exhaust to 4 inch first and then work with a set of injectors next. ATS 3 piece manifold will help. I guess you could run a little propane on the hills though if you did nothing else. :)

You live in Gilbert I see...

Give me a phone call, we need to put the East Valley on the TDR map. PHX-ATC would join us in a heart beat.

I got some thoughts to share also.

I agree with fj40charles. Get you some Mach 1 or 2 injectors from Don M. You will be very happy. It will go great with your setup. I had a set of Mach 2. 4's and a power puck box, with the stock exhaust and stock turbo and I didn't have any EGT problems. Great towing package, ask Bob Wagner. You will need a boost fooler, but that came free with my injectors.

Thanks everyone for posting up your thoughts.

I am split between the CATCHER ECM upgrade or a set of injectors.

I am going to wait until more feedback on the ECM upgrade. It looks like the last upgrade for a while is going to be the Brakesmart Brake Controler. Mine just took a dump.

Getting ready for a big trip to Moab UT in about a month, and can't do the trip without a trailer controler.

Thanks again.

You've already got an EZ so you're going to have to be careful, as your setup with modified injectors or ??? will be pushing the stock clutch. Have fun... :)

My Dad lives in Tucson and has a 2001 QC Dually, everything stock except a edge box and a propane injection for the hills. For about a year he did deliver travel trailers to dealers from distributors all over the US and this is what he used. He is a very conservative driver, and was happy with this. He did use Amsoil in the engine and gets oil analysis done on a regular basis, He does not have a boost guage so I can not help you there as far as how hot he ran with the propane. Just a thought for you to check out.

I went with the Mach 1. 5's because Don M. recomends them as the best for milage. As a stand alone modification I liked them better than my old Edge EZ (more power & smoother delivery). The two worked very well together. I'm now running with Marco's MAD CaTCHER. It's a noticable improvement over the very fine EZ.
