Where it was cast

I don't have the faintest notion of what the '53' is but I can tell you that there is WEST GERMANY cast in half inch letters on the underside of the intake log on my 89. Does that mean the the entire engine is from Germany? I thought their stuff was the best, however, I am in the process of correcting a gaulded piston on number six hole. Course I bought it that way and don't know what may have caused it.

At one of the satellite shops at work we had an international DT466 melt a piston bad enough to stop the engine. The operator had it running at a constant high idle to run on-board equipment at the time. The mecahnics there repaired the bottom end (sleeved it I think), and sent out the pump and injectors for inspection and repair. Near as they could figure, that hole overfueled and that was that. I never did hear what the pump shop found if anything, but I know the truck is back on the road. In summary, you may want to check out the pump and injectors and also the piston cooling nozzle under the piston.

Bob, to answer your question, "NOPE", no first gen ever got a lock-up from the factory.

Now about this "nekkid" thing. UH HUH, no way.

But maybe, if you and all the PDR crew would agree to grease back their hair and wear bright orange speedo's, Maybe I would

"..... But maybe, if you and all the PDR crew would agree to grease back their hair and wear bright orange speedo's, Maybe I would ... . "

Egaddddsssssssss... . that would be against the Geneva convention. . TMI. . nasty visual. . :D:D

Ok you guys, I can't stand the pressure... . if you look in the right place you'll see a particular symbol... it refers to..... "HI". or "cornbinder"... . now ??

Man... I can't even get the bonus HP for myself... . ;):D

You guys need to go back to studying... there will be another test in the future. . :D:D

pastor bob... .

I shoulda known better than to check in here after being absent for awhile. Out in the middle of the night in the rain on my back with a flashlight lookin for some stool binding symbol on the side of my block when I can't see nuthin but turbos and fuel pumps n such. Sheeeeeeesh! I can see the lunatics are still runnin the asylum. :D

He's Back!!

Looks who's back. And he fell for Bob's "Look under your truck's engine in the dark on your back" witch hunt. Oo.

Good to hear from you (West Coast) Jay

If our Pastor said "lets all wear bright orange speedo's" would we do that too??

jbolt !!!! you 'ole puddin spanker you... GTSU bud. . :D:D:D... . I REALLY need to do a "who's missing" post in here... . you slid right under the radar man. .

Were the heck you been at ????

Dave, sorry bud, it's my turn to go... HUH??? sorry man I don't get it...

As for the speedo's... . heck I'll try anything once... some things 3 or 4 times. . ;)

Hey when are one of you guys gonna hold a "speedo's only" bomb day... ;)

Ya guys, I'm in denial myself... can you imagine my confusion when a mech pointed out the International symbol on our blocks.

There is a good side to this though... it's my understanding that the good blocks (ours) were the first one's used... . after that Cummins went to a "cheaper idea" and hence the 53's... . truth/fiction... I don't know.

BTW, that fellow I mentioned from out East who has way too much HP to start with... . he tells me that there are some markings on the heads too... go figure. :D

Ya I'm still out here... . or out there... or... . oh heck I don't know where I am half the time nowdays. Been busy with work and the family. Haven't tinkered with the truck since I did the disc brakes how ever long ago that was. We spent a small fortune this year finding out why my boy is having such a hard time learning to read and write. Looks like it's going to be a long haul but we'll get there.

I see the usual suspects are still about. Did you ever get your stick back Bob? :-laf

So back to the original topic of this thread. My truck left the factory 8/12/93, arrived on the lot 8/19/93 and I bought it 8/28/93 the same day the dealer received their first 94. I suspect it was one of the very last to leave the factory in Mexico.

Well I`m 30 years in alaska and have to ask---what the hell is an orange speedo? Do they fit on these trucks?????????

:-laf :-laf

FNFAL-One thing you have to remember when you are reading through the first gen forums you need to be using a completely differnt thought process. We don't ALWAYS talk about truck parts.

The speedo is what olimpic swimmers(male) wear while competing. Also hairy guys with beer bellies wear them on the beach to "impress" the women! :-laf The speedo barely covers important things, if you know what I mean.

Now how the orange speedo ties into discussion I don't yet know, there must be a "you had to be there" thing between pastor bob and dave. Dunno for sure.

Now that you have read this and went  , yes the orange speedo will fit in your truck, however I do not think it wil improve performance of the truck, it might improve the performance of the driver though! :D

Michael-member of the asylum!

wait so all this time the powerstrokers we're bad mouthing and beeting the smoke out of are our blood brothers???????HI? You mean IH?International????So where did powerstrokes go wrong???? OH they left it entirely up to IH!!

"... . different thought process... . "

ROFLMAOAPMP... ... . :-laf :-laf :-laf

NOWERE IN MY MANUAL DOES IT SAY WE HAVE TO HAVE ANY THOUGHT PROCESS

On a more serious matter jb... I think I know exactly what you are facing with your son... we went thru much the same thing ourselves and if it weren't for OUR insistance the problem would have gone totally undetected.

I am choked it took till the later grades to be diagnosed... . pretty much to late in our case.

My son has had a real tough time dealing/living with the issue, but, he is making progress now that he is older. The best way to describe it, is he is learning "work-arounds" so to speak.

Hang in bud...

Oh ya... . orange speedo's is kinda like an aberration sorta thing... every now and then good ole Dave whips out a good one and now... well... he's gotta demonstrate the proper method of wearing them so all the rest of us can get it right... after all, he is breaking new ground here with that one...

Right Dave!!!!!!! :D:D:D

pastor bob... .

A DEMO?? Maybe on the day you sell your truck and by a chebby.

Now the poor guy from Alaska,, OK, I know,, ya see, it's like this,, Down here when a gal walks by and we say, "WOW, I'll bet those cost a lot" we ain't reffering to to her glasses.

But in Alaska (Canada too) when you say,, "WOW, I'll bet those cost a lot" you guys are talking aboot her two dogs and sled. :D :D

And in BOBs case, it's a new set of right rear tires :-laf

Hmmm... ... ;) well, as the bad guy said to Rooster "... . Mighty bold talk for a one eye'd fat man..... "... :D:D

Dave is just jealous that he has to buy 4 tires at a time... . me, well. . I get to move one tire 3 times before it gets replaced... . ahhhhhh jealousy is such a sad thing to see... oh ya,,,,Dave is blind in one eye and can't see outta the other'N... :p

OH... sorry, once the ride starts it can't be stopped until it's done. . :D:D:D
