I need to get my homebrew fuel pressure gauge out and test my lift pump. I know it works because I recently changed my fuel filter, and I can hear it run when I start the truck. I just need to check the output while driving down the road to make sure it's not getting tired.
Chris,

With all respect, just because the electric motor is running doesn't mean the lift pump is pumping. Coupling and relief valve failures are two fairly common failure modes, and either of these could result in minimal/no pumping even though the lift pump's motor is running.

That's why I am going to check it. I should install a permanent fuel pressure gauge but that's one of the things on my 'to-do' list. Besides when I changed my fuel filter, I completely drained the housing and I'm sure it wouldn't have started if the lift pump were motoring but not pumping. I install my temporary gauge and drive the truck a few miles every so often to check the pressure.

codes 1693 and 0216

Well it finally hiccuped yesterday as I was starting a 4 hour trip. Fortunately I was only a half mile from home. Pulled off the road and did the ol' code check and 1693 and 0216 is what showed.

After doing a search on these two codes I presume that the fix for it is replacing the vp44. Am I correct. If so, what do I need to do to reset the computer so the codes will not show once the repair has been made.

I had the same codes on mine show up a few months ago, took it to the dealer and they reset the codes using the DRB111 scanner. The codes have not come back... . yet. I would assume the dealer will check the codes and if they replace the pump for it, will reset the codes for you.
