i did the first retorque hot and the 2nd cold, i want to do one more tomorrow after i get some more miles on it and want to know which is better hot or cold, ill check it again in a couple thousand miles

Your spouse to do cold 1st , then after at least 1 heat cycle , that means the 2nd time after it heats and then cools off , also in the factory man. an angle gauge , I do not have one with me to give you the exact spec. but it was something like all bolts to 66 ft. lbs. starting in middle of head and progressing from side to side and to front to back , then all the 12mm bolts in the same patern to about 87 ft. lbs , then an additional 60 deg. using the angle gauge , this gets a little complicated to tell ya when I know I have a bad memory.
Then some times you get a deferant spec. with diff. gasgets or with after market bolts .

I have done all my re-torques cold and many other reputable diesel goo-roos have told me the same. :) Some prefer it hot and some prefer it cold, I guess it depends on the engine and studs.

COLD COLD COLD!!!!!!!!!!

things expand when they get hot...

you torque, then get the engine up to temp and everything stretches and compresses the gasket furthur, then you retorque cold, bring it up to temp, etc. etc. untill torque value remains the same after heat cycle.

DO NOT re-torque hot or you will not be getting full torque value on your fasteners!
