When my son was looking for one, all we could find were trucks that were used hard-in other words-BEAT. He ended up finding a nice truck that he liked, but had to "settle" for an automatic.

The last couple of years have been hard on our diesel's, the "ricer" crowd have discovered how simple it is to make massive power with relatively few $s. If you are purchasing a used diesel, you had better be inspecting it with a magnifying glass.

As far as "settling" for an auto trans, just be prepared to spend around $5k to bring it up to par, versus $1. 5k for a comparable clutch. I am happy with my auto trans, and would not consider a manual in it's place, but that is my preference.

I think there is a certain demand for 5. 9's and manual transmission trucks. A buddy of mine, who is an auto broker, asked me if I'd like to sell mine because he has a client looking for a 5. 9, manual transmission truck. They seem to be hard to come by-especially nice ones. I told him I would sell it for enough money, but nobody in their right mind would pay what I would sell it for. It's dialed in just right and it would cost me $50k to get a new one and set it up the way I have mine set up.

Look at my sig, my brother went through that. He knew I had two trucks and asked me if I would be willing to sell it to him. Gave him a great deal on it, (19k) and I really miss it, it only had 70k miles on it. I know it went to a good home, and I get to visit my baby once in awhile. I would not have sold it to anyone else. That truck in my opinion was the best series for D/C.
