Questions about Utah

Just picked it up tonite and WOW what a unit. Seamless versus the older tom's (Or from what I have seen) Allready I have it sync'd with the phone , weather and A few Pics and songs (20 GB worth of HDD in this thing and I have 60 GB on the Ipod ... 'Dat's some gigs) It was a nasty shootout between the garmin Navi and the 910. The 910 got it only because of the fact it also is remote cotrol driven (A plus for me) and bigger screen for a personal gps that is. The "Celeb" voices you can download are KILLER.

I was looking at the 910 this morning on ebay, is there a monthly fee associated with the system?

Nope. I put it to the grill today. I purposely went every twisty off map backroad to work and it rerouted me every time (Even tho I know the routes it took me) with precision. You can avoid certain steps and have it rout around that step or series of steps. The bluetooth is flawless and screen brightness is sweet. You can download different color schemes , Poi's (Specific ones I. E Dunkin' Donuts ... a must for me) It pulls signal strength better than my Delorome system taboot! I will keep this updated and the cool part is you can talk TomTom<->TomTom too. Kinda sweet.

The only "Service" that it uses are two things.

1 When connected to your BLUETOOTH enabled phone it can if you choose use your phone for some of its features IF you choose to use them. I. E Automatic weather update , over the air updates (Faster and more reliable thru the laptop anyhow but whatever) And of course to place and make calls.

2. Their "Plus" services (Which are free anyhow) Give you free POI updates , satelite imagry , color schemes , software updates , and more. Traffic monitoring camera locals (Huge feature in europe and teh UK) and On demand traffic reroutethat uses a live traffic monitoring service, both of which you can subscribe to and do have a nominal fee. AGAIN that is in europe.
