Hey all,
First off, let me say my DTT was setup by Fred @ Desert Diesel, and it was done perfectly for what I had at the time (PE Comp)... . but, the BOMB bug came and went, and now I have DD3's, 4" exhaust, and my KSB1-B. I think I'll be putting billet shafts in sometime, but not for a while, and I will have Fred probably reset everything to this setup when that is done... in the meantime, here's my problem...
My KSB1-B is barking something fierce EVERY TIME my pickup shifts into 4th gear, under light to medium accelleration. If I'm getting on it, trying to get +30 PSI, there is no problem, but if just pulling away from a stop sign or the like, when it hits anywhere between 15-25 PSI, the turbo will start chattering and barking and my boost will pop back and forth 3-5 PSI. I've talked to Kurt, and he says this problem has only been seen on 2 other trucks. My buddy Denis has the identical setup to mine and his does not do this.
Kurt's plan is going 2 ways... first we want to try to get my transmission to shift 200 RPM's later, so it will be spinning faster when it locks up in 4th (goes from 3rd lockup to 4th lockup on the shift). If we can't do this w/o dropping my pan, I'm going to be the test dummy for a different compressor wheel once I get to Phoenix in about 2 weeks.
Love my turbo, but it has this one annoyance... can I change the shift point from 3-4 w/o dropping the transmission pan?
Thanks, Josh
