Not to defend K&N but I ran mine for 70,000 miles and my Intake elbow/ and Compressor wheel is still spotless. The problem IMO is that the edge seal was not thick enough. I added a 1/8 rubber lip around the air box when I installed it because I thought the grease seal sucked.

AnyWay the scottyair and AFE Filters are available thru numerous Diesel performance websites and I think they now come in several colors. I am planning on becoming a AFE dealer but have been to busy to set it up. If you want Email me and I will give you all the Links and info from my shop on monday.

I have been told that they are much better and less expensive then K&N. I will be ordering one for my truck tomorrow.

No offence, but I will never have another k&n on my truck again. Like I have said before, I had one on my first gen. If you have seen a filter on one of those then you know that there is no chance of a leak. Well and evenly oiled filter, and fine dust in the intake.   I need no more proof than that.

I always thought that the filter media looked to thin myself. I think that after they were alittle used then they woud filter better. On my motorcycles in the past I would not clean them unless they were really dirty and they never seemed to choke the performance any.

Now days I think that Amsoil and AFE are better. .

ok lets get back to the turbo business

lets see who is gonna be instlling one of these this friday night?????????????????????

hmmmm who could it be?

p. s. scotty air forever, do many guys even remember what scotty air was... . he he he

B1 On A 2001 AT

I'm real happy to report that the B1 turbo is the best single turbo I have had the opportunity to test. This is a phenomenal component for your diesel truck and a dramatic leap forward expecially for those hampered with the HY35 on their late model AT truck.

We have the B1 with it's smaller turbine housing in order to work nicely with the AT on our customers "01. Well, it amazing to me how well this turbo works. It blipped the boost gauge to 40 psi without effort. Beautiful drivability!

So what's the bottom line?

NOW HERE THIS!!!

In addition to the driveablility, we repeatedly watched the gauges attain 48 psi of boost pressure while remarkably the egt numbers ceilinged out at 1250*. This is baby food as far as egt goes.

THESE FIGURES REPRESENT A 10 psi IMPROVEMENT IN BOOST PRESSURE WITH A DECREASE IN EGT OF OVER 400*!!!!

Nowell Thank's for the Post! Your "KBC" is in the mail! (KickBackCheck);) ;) :D

I am glad to hear about the results of a B-1 on a AutoMatic. I expected great results based on my testing on my 6sp. There are other areas of Performance improvements that I have seen from my R&D and I am very curious if your customer will be confirming these after he has driven a few more miles.

I Hope to have some response back from Yogi Bear soon. He does alot of Heavy Towing and he recently upgraded from the KS14cm2 Turbo. He has a 2000? ETC 6spd. with 275RV's and a PE Comp.

Even with my PE COMP turned off this turbo spools great. This is suprising due to the Huge Shaft and HeavyDuty Wheels.

I am headed to Phx AZ. to work on more Ideas I have ( Ready made Down pipes... 50 to 60 psi wastegate ... Etc) with my TurboGuruMachinest... . Be back in the shop on tuesday but will be online while in Phx.

I would say that the Single Turbo costs about 1/2 as much to install!:D

Now, now..... lets not do anything hasty ;)

I called at 845pm(my time)after I got up, no answer at the shop and your cell will ring twice and then give me a busy signal?

Since Yogi asked, is mine the "same" as all the others? Or is there something different on mine? If it gets here by Thursday I can put it on on Friday and take it to dyno on Sunday in KC. Although I don't think my truck is 100% healthy, I'll still see what it will do :D

Can someone with a B1 take a picture of it installed? I am concerned about it fitting in there with my Ram air setup next to it.

Just wanna see how "Big" it is installed... ... and its position.

Thanks

KatD, Look on page 1 of this thread for a pic.

It is not much larger then a HX40 on the outside. It's what's inside thats Huge!! :D

I recommend against the BHAF style if you want the lowest EGT's possible. It flows great but drawing from under hood air raises my Egt's 200 deg.

Kat, in Kwurts pic's. there's one of mine installed. It works fine with the BHAF and the stock airbox. Hope this helps.

Yogi, Of course KatD's is better!!;) You think I would give you the latest and Greatest B-1 After the way you "BAD MOUTH" me. ;) :p :D
