Last week the local dealer had my '06 truck in to heal a transmission problem, was hard to get out of park (got a Sun Coast VB coming), and had them check on any new ECU updates of which there were 2 since I was there in Aug-Sept. So they loaded them. I just drove it today with my 30' gooseneck flatbed hooked on (empty) and at 60-65 on flat ground, cruise set, the EGT was up from 650-700 to 850-900 and the boost from 5-7 to 10-12 lbs. I can stand on it and the EGT will run up to 1400 faster than you can say OHHHH S--t!! Just leaning into it runs it to 1300 and the boost goes to 40 lbs. ,which the boost would do anyway. It makes no difference if the Edge/At is set on 0 or 5 because it hits my preset defueling settings of 40lbs. and 1350 deg. in the snap of your fingers. So the way it stands, the Edge is useless OR set the parameters at say 50lbs. (stock turbo) and 1500+ deg. and lets the turbo drip out the tail pipe. Keep in mind that I'm pulling an empty trailer-can hardly wait to pile 10-12 thousand lbs. on the trailer. I won't be able to get up to speed in a school zone without a meltdown!! One thing the ECU update did do, the motor has never been quieter and it idles as smooth as glass. This is good seeing how sitting around listening to it is all that's left. I guess what I'm asking is has anyone had there ECU flashed with the "latest and greatest" and what happened next? Thanks!

I can vouch for a better running truck after the dealer re-flash but I don't have an EGT gauge so I can't say whether they went up or not. My re-flash was due to the battery temp sensor code. Dealer re-flashed the ECU, cleared the code and since then the truck runs smoother and idles @ 800 rpm instead of 750. Not to mention no more long cranks as I got for the first month of owning the truck. :)

Probably a stupid question but did you montior your EGTs without the trailer hooked up or with before the re-flash? Your post sounds like the trailer is making the EGTs higher which would make sense.

Yes, that's comparing apples to apples ect. I haul freight with this truck, spent 79,000 miles in it in '06 and well intouch with any little change. That's why I'm more than a little "up tight" about this re-flash!!
