I did the dual pumps a while back also and like the fact that I will never get stuck with a bad pump. Yours is like mine in that you have to see the fuel pressure drop to know your primary pump is going bad. I have to flip 2 valves to change my system to the backup pump, and change the power connector. Yours only requires the change of the power, that is nice. Gary, have you ever had any clogging issues with your bypass valves?

The original thread is here in case anyone is interested

As I have commented in your own thread you point to above, yours is the cleanest and slickest setup I've seen - very nice!

No, no clogging issue of any kind so far - but another addition I have made is to install a flashing LED and alarm chime to a Hobb's switch in my fuel line right before the VP-44:

The flashing LED is installed up in my gauge pod just above the upper gauge:

That way, if PSI drops below 7 PSI, and I don't see the flasher, I dern sure WILL hear the chime! Been a couple of times when poor electrical contact to the LP caused me to lose PSI. and I didn't realize it until I lost power and then checked the gauge...

At some point, I'll go ahead and install a switch to select either of the 2 fuel pumps - I have the stuff to do it, just haven't got to it yet... :D

Thanks Gary, your original posting was what got me thinking about the dual pumps. I played with my own version of a bypass using a flap valve and the stock pump in the stock location. After I relocated the stock pump to the frame I decided to just use two. I like the idea of a flashing light and an audible warning. My fuel gauge is way over in the cubby which tends to not be as visible as if it were on the pod. Is that just a pressure switch that is normally closed? Also did you just use a flashing LED like the kind found at RadioShack? Where can I find the pressure switch, I'd like to add that feature to my system, having a backup pump only works if I notice the main pump is gone or failing.

The Hobb's switch is a common Ebay item - they run in the vicinity of about $20, and come in various PSI and NO/NC contact configurations - the flashing LED is something Radio Shack carries, as is the small chime I used - the thread is HERE:
