I recently repaced my original lift pump... Quit completly... you know the rest of the story about that part. Thats not the half of it.

I did'nt wait for the stealer to order one so I bought one from Cummins Cumberland for about $160, no problem, just put it on myself. I finally got around and told my service writer at my stealer and we agreed to order one under warranty for a replacement for my to have in my sidebox. (for a spare) The assistant parts manager looked the part# up and said they were on "national backorder". I thought that was odd, but thought maybe D-C had sourced out another mfg. other than Carter for the replacements. Well, when the parts manager got back from some training meeting ,today I called him and asked if they had ever got in my lift pump? He said that they were not really on "national backorder" but rather, STAR had issued a freeze on the replacements under warrenty and that they would ONLY be

replaced if the fuel pressure readings were verified to be below a certain spec. that he did not mention. I told him that mine was only 6 psi. at idle and 2 psi. at WOT. He is going to see what he could do for me, but made no promises. WHAT'S STAR UP TO???:-{} :-{} :-{} :-{}

same old crap

I dont even wast my time with the 5 screw stealers... ... ... ... ... ... ... :mad: :-{} :mad:

Your warrenty is simply a sales pitch when you buy the truck... ... ... ... . after you drive off they just laugh and say we dont even have a mechanic or a shop, hooked another sucker :mad:

I just got LP # 3 installed today, no problem, mechanic called STAR and they talked for awhile and (drum roll) new LP. My dealer had them in stock. I'm sure glad I have a superb dealer, some of you guys have real dogs for dealers :(

This has been going on for over a year now. When my lift pump went out (a year ago), they told me the same thing. There would have to run there "tests" and call Star to get the part ordered.

So this is nothing new.
