Hi there, I heard this morning that DC is going to layoff 25,000 people in there Chrysler division. It's a shame for all those people. Where do that many people find jobs? Hopefully this is a short term thing. Thought you guy would want to know this. Have a great day. Jeff

Jeff,
I hate to hear of anyone losing their job due to layoffs, but if they are all from the auto transmission department, maybe they will re-think the Chysler transmission they place in Ram's.

Like they say, S^&T flows down hill. And that is definitely what has started to happen. DC is one of many big companies to feel the clamps of our tightened economy. Its effects will be wide spread. . Unfortunately, we never hear about all the small companies who close because of this sorta thing.

Read this weekend where Boeing may be laying off a large number of people also, article said that that while previous layoffs have been disastrous for the Seattle area economy they don't feel it will have much of an effect anymore, there are plenty of other jobs. Hope the same is true for other areas of the country.

If Chrysler is having financial trouble... what (if anything) effect do you guys think this will do to the sale price of new Rams? Also, what do you think it will do to the resale price of our used Rams?

The news said,"Daimler Chrysler plans to close six North American plants".
This could mean all the Dodge trucks will be made in Mexico #ad

Could the "changing of the gaurds" have something to do with this... we've seen it so many times before, hopefully this is temporary. #ad

Hey guys,

Don't hit the panic button just yet. Here's an article in today's Detroit News that pretty well explains the DC plan.
http://www.detroitnews.com/2001/autos/0101/29/-181532.htm

It is over a 2 year period. In the article there's a sidebar that shows the plants affected and the effective dates for the changes. Some aren't even in the US.

There's another article in yesterday's Detroit News that shows the production of the plants affected, their hours spent to build a vehicle, and the hours spent by the competetion(Ford & GM) to build their competetive vehicle. The DC vehicles in some cases took 10-12 hours longer than the other guys and that spells big cost differences. That's one of the problems that have to be fixed to remain in business.

Bill

Think of all the other people that will be affected. Parts suppliers, etc.

Bill Klitons economy has been headed toward the toilet for some time! At least that's what I've been saying for about two years now!

I not blaming the economy. Then Ford & Chev would be doing the same thing. Dodge is a sitting duck right now. While Ford & Chev are striving to offer new and more products to stay in bussines. When they use to say " The rules have changed" They must not have sent Ford & Chev the rule handbook on building new trucks.

CNN fn said it was going to be 5 plants across seas and 1 in the USA so I dont know how much it will effect us,I wish them well
