LE Taigate Trim

Does anyone in Georgia have or know where to get a new LE tailgate piece other than paying $695 from the dealer. Mine the red reflective strip has water damage (like all of them) or does anyone know of an easy way to fix them.

I was thinking of stripping the reflector off mine and having the aluminum cleaned up re-paint DODGE in black and laying in red reflective tape, trim it to fit as 1 piece and then pouring polyurathane over it, wet sand it to perfection, but its a lot of work.



Any help? or I'm going to give my idea a shot

First off even if you wanted to pay the dealer they are no longer available.

As for the red strip, yes. The best is what you described. I thought I had seen a red sticker in the past that could be used to look like the red strips but down remember where I saw it as that was years ago.

Carl Gregory Dodge in Columbus GA says they can get them for $695, but I'm extremely skeptical. When I ordered a fuel sending unit from them they got me an oil sending unit so thats that.

Also keep an eye on eBay. I look every morning while i have my pre-work coffee. I look for anything and everything having to do with our 1st gens. Every now and then something REALLY hard to find will pop up. A perfect condition trim piece was on there a few weeks back. I'm thinking about starting a new thread, just on rare parts that pop up on eBay. Just to serve as a heads up for people that are looking. Good luck and keep us posted on what you find.
