It appears that the rear bushing on the leaf spring is deteriorated causing a loud rattle when going over bumps. The dealer says the bushing is not replaceable on this year truck (96). The spring shop says the same. Any alternates to the complete spring replacement @ $350 ? Seems like there ought to be a better way for a 4$ bushing.

I don't know, but somebody should have a two piece poly bushing replacement. If the stock ones have a metal sleeve around the rubber they are probally a real bear to take off.

If nothing else... ... . TTT

If they're saying the bushing isn't replaceable, then the bushing is probably molded into the spring eye. It might have a metal sleeve too. I can't be sure, because I've never looked at them. But if this is the case, you can lock that sucker in a vise and drill out the rubber. This will separate the bushing from the spring eye and little metal sleeve. There's GOT to be a replacement poly bushing somewhere that you can replace it with. It might not even be listed as a dodge aftermarket part, but you can measure the sleeve and eye and find one that will fit based on the dimensions. I'd try this before paying $350.

Energy only carries bushings for the 2 1/2 inch wide springs, not the 3 inch springs. I just picked up replacement bushings for the front sway bar and the truck shop called Energy Suspension since he didn't have a listing. They told them that they don't carry bushings for the 3 inch springs nor the rear sway bar.

Front looking at it, it doesn't look like the rubber bushing is molded into the eye on the end of the spring. One one of mine, it looks like the bushing shifted in the eye to one side, but I have been wrong before. Once the weather warms up, I may get some more precise measurements and see if I can find any universal bushings that may work.

For that price, I'd look into getting some made. This stuff turns like butter on a lathe so it wouldn't take long. Try the bushing folks for some barstock to start with.
