When it rains hard and truck is outside I get a drip in the upper center console and sometimes it comes in the hook for the sun visor. I have replaced the clearance lights a few years ago and it has not stopped. Any ideas?

The clear lights are crap tho I can remember the model so I may replace again. Any one have a good brand???

They have an updated gasket for the clearance lights. Did you use the improved rubber gasket or the old style foam gasket?

I have the same problem with my '03. I called the local Dodge dealerships and they could not find anything regarding fresh rubber gaskets. Only said that I could buy a new light set-up. I, also, called a local truck lighting store that sells the same lights used on the '03 and they did not know of any upgrades to the foam gaskets. On the internet, I did see some clearance lights that had a black "O-ring" type of gasket but, you have to buy the entire lighting set-up (5 lights). I wonder if you could make a gasket with silicone, let it dry to a rubber consistency, and re-install the lights. Does anyone have a source for the new & improved gaskets for these lights? Please let us know. Thanks.
Joe

I had the same problem in WA state and I believe there was a TSB issued on this. The fix didn't cost me anything but my truck may still have been under warranty when it was fixed. The new style lights with the updated gaskets work well. I just bought a second set from ebay from a guy that sells OEM parts without the usual mark-up.

I replace them with an after market smoked ones. Auzo or something smoked. I liked the look but still leaking. I don't like the factory ones but if they stop the leak then I may go back and get a brow light.

That's a though a few of the lights have moisture in them.

If that's the case, it is also possible that the leak is coming from the screw THROUGH the lens and then into the truck (following the screw threads), in which case it might be also be a good idea to put a dab of silicone on top of each screw head after it is tightened down as well. Again, just talking LITLLE amounts to make a clean seal.

All that being said, after my experience with leaking cab lights on my 93 w300, I am happy to have given them up all together and actually PREFER the cleaner look without them.

I will try that. How would you get rid of them. Holes is the roof?

Unfortunately don;t htinbk there sis any decent way to get rid of the holes once installed. Perhaps a decent body shop could give you a quote for filling the holes and buffing out or painting the roof panel…That being said, likely NOT worth it…I was referring to being glad that the 2005 I bought used did NOT have the leaky clearance lights that my w300 did.

I was thinking buying a silicone cook mat you use in the oven and cutout new gaskets out . As mentioned above the o-rings on the screws could be over torqued tearing up the seal. I got suckered into new Recons and they are garbage too. Said they were upgraded. What a joke

Mine leaked also, I replaced them with led lights and add silicone at the base and around the screw heads before I installed them, no leaks since.
Might want to check if water may be coming in at the third brake light and running up to where its leaking.Just a thought

I think the updated version has the screws front/back of the lens were the original had it left/right of it.
The new version is properly installed absolutely weather tight.
