there is a small coolant leak from my water pump. at least i think its my water pump. dose any one know if this is common at 65000 miles?

Nope not common... . I don't have a truck under 85K and have never had a water pump failure... .

Most water pumps have a small weep hole on the back side of the seal... . if you have water dripping from this hole its a seal bearing problem... .

I've been told this is a $35 pump new... . and its easy to change. .

Check and make sure that the thermostat housing isn't leaking and running down. If the weep hole on the pump is wet then yes you need a new pump.

IIRC, mine made it to about 130k before it started to leak. Simple 5 minute change out, while you're at it, do a complete flush of the cooling system and put in a new t-stat. $85 for pump at Cummins, and like 30 for the t stat.
