I have a '2000' Dodge Diesel. 3/4 Ton 4x4.

I had a front wheel bearing go out (drivers side) so I took it to the local dealer for repair. They replaced both axle seals, bearing, stub shaft, and u-joint. Took it home and both axle seals leaked. I took it back and they replaced both seals again. I took it home again and the drivers side seal was leaking within a couple days. I've taken it back again and thats where it is now and they can't find anything wrong with it. They have replaced the seal but can find no reason for the leak. Has anyone got any ideas? Any information would be appreciated.

Just a thought... Did they check the breather tube to make sure it's clear? If it's plugged, it could build up pressure if it warms up and blow out the seal. I just replace the seals on a '95 Tuesday. On that truck, there is no machined stop for the seal to rest against on the driver's side (unless you drive it WAY in). If the axle has some rust pitting outboard of where the original seal was riding on the axle, and they drove the new seal in the housing farther, it could ride on the pitted area of the axle and not seal well. Or maybe the mechanic was careless installing the axle back into the tube and didn't support it well or damaged it on install... Just a few ideas...
