The nut on the top of my fuel filter housing is leaking. I lose the prime and it's hard to start. I went ahead and changed the filter, I thought it might be the little O- ring. It's still leaking. Is this a factory defect? I'm still under warranty. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hey milkman it isn't cross threaded is it?It can be easy to do seeing how it's just plastic!Try torqueing down a bit more or take the cap off and check the O ring to be sure it is O. K. Lube the O ring with Diesel fuel or engine oil.

Are you sure it's the nut? It might be the housing. The casting on the case and top of mine are not the best looking (quite porus).

Phil - The 98-99's have a metal nut

It was my bad, I torqued the filter down too tight. I redid with new O-rings. No more leak. Torque spec is 10 lbs on a 1999 truck.
