I installed a 15# FP guage in SEP of 03. In JUN 05, I installed a new FASS transfer pump. This necessitated the replacement of the FP sending unit with a 30# unit. I did not replace the hose to the sending unit. Recently I had a significant leak in the hose to the FP sending unit. The new replacement from Geno's is a much higher quality hose although, I never expected the other one to fail. It was saturted with fuel and showed a lot of cracking. I am lucky I did not experience a failure on the road.

Thinking I was done when I put the new FP hose on, I started the truck only to discover that the FP sending unit is also leaking. I am currently waiting for a replacement.

If you have an aftermarket FP guage, you might want to make checking this hose a part of your PM procedure. I missed mine because I had it in wire loom to keep it from chaffing.

I have not seen a sending unit leak before. Has anyone experienced problems with these units leaking? The unit I am replacing is a little less than 3 years old with less than 32K miles on it. I have it mounted on the engine and I am wondering if vibration might have anything to do with this?

if you are using the universal fuel pressure line you might want to move the sending unit off the engine and attatch to the firewall. if it is a westach sending unit make sure the two bigger nuts are tight & check now & then. also a westach unit fits nicely in a 1 1/4-1 1/2 conduit hanger with nut & bolt you can find at a hardware store.
