I noticed last nite that I have some sort of oil leak dripping down the bottom back of my pump.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

TIA

I assume you mean motor oil rather than diesel. Mine had a leak around the throttle shaft on the left side, but that sounds different.

Yes it is common.

Its probably the O-ring that seals the P-Pump to the front case that has dried and cracked and just gone bad. If it is that its a . 50 part that takes more labor money to replace it than the seal is worth.

However, have you checked to see if its not the front case itself or the KDP?. Look it over well first then make your determination. Only good thing about if its the o-ring,it gives you a reason to install someones big flowing P-Pump that you always wanted... LOL... ... Andy

The seal around the throttle lever/speed levers kit is about 20 from Bosch.

The pump to gear housing o-ring is about $5-8 from Cummins, lots of labor to pull the pump to get to the o-ring.

Sometimes the gear housing to vacuum pump area leaks, or the timing pin (timing pin o-ring).

Finally, a bad seal in the vacuum pump will allow oil drip at the coupling between the vac. pump and ps pump/pump reservior.

See archive post for the $40 dollar seals to repair this.

You might also ck. the oil rifle lines that supply the inlet oil on the back side of the injection pump and the supply to the vacuum pump.

It might also be the tappet cover leaking.

Its hard to pinpoint with the fan / road draft blowing everything around.

Try to pinpoint it after cleaning up everything, then maybe we can all help some more.

Simple green works well and doesn't stain the engine paint/compartment. Be careful of letting it dry on warm surfaces though.

Good luck in your leakless quest!

Thanks for the info on thia.

I've not been able to crawl under the hood much lately. It is about time to bathe the engine, though. See if I can spot the source on this.

Thanks.

If its diesel fuel check the fuel return line. I have had mine leak twice by the welded tabs. The last leak was at the back tab and it ran down the tab and onto the pump. It would look like the throttle shaft was leaking.

did you put all three bolts back in for the shut off solenoid bracket after doing the gsk install? have you worn out the AFC gasket?
