Anyone one having problems with the fittings on ther power steering pump leaking? Apperently, my truck has been bleading for several days. I didn't notice it because of all of the other stains from my Jeep in the driveway. It took some groaning and vibes through the brakes to alert me of the problem. Anyways, it going into the dealer for service in the morning.

Does any one think it has anything to do with the TSB that replaces the ps hose because of vibs at high RPM? I have yet to get the new hose.

Thanks,

Aaron

My hose gave up at the fitting with only a few thousand miles on the truck. This appears to be a common problem. It's a dangerous problem because the hydraulic pump serves both the brakes and steering. I was lucky. Mine went very suddenly in the driveway as I was parking. I called the dealer and a tow truck was on site in 1/2 hour. It was fixed the following day.

The dealer replaced mine when i went in for my recall. I didnt even know there was a problem... I got real scared when they said "power steering" when i got ack to the dealer... i thought for sure theyd blame my bigger tires for the power steering problem...

So is this new P/S pump easier to replace/fix than the old 2ng gen vacuum/PS combo? That thing sprung leaks way too easy. And what a pain to fix, although at least it was doable. What's the repair typicaly been in the 3rg gen failers? Expected cost? Shoot I was hoping for more reliability out of my new truck... maybe I'll be lucky.

Pump

Had my truck in yesterday to take care of a few TSB's & the trans cooler line & control module issues. The Einstein at the dealer managed to cross thread the updated p/steering hose into the pump fitting. Looks like I'll have to take it back in for another hose & pump. Not to mention the mess he didn't clean up afterwards under the truck.

It turns out it was the hose refferd to in the TSB. They are replacing it on Mon when the part gets there. I guess the vibes worked it loose. Thnaks for the responses

The dealer replaced a leaking reservoir cap on mine - I didn't even think the seepage was out of the ordinary but the tech noticed it and just took care of it.

So is it the hose that is leaking? I was under mine today changing oil and noticed the box was wet, checked the dipstick and it was to the add mark. Thought the box might be leaking somewhere and thought I would come here a do a search to see if anyone is having problems... ... ..... low and behold only 3 days ago some posted the same type of problem. I have to make an appt to get it to the dealer soon.

I am at 21K right now. Just noticed it because of changing the oil, don't seem to have any problems otherwise(such as tuff steering)

The hose that goes into the bottom of the ps box must be cracked and it is getting worse. (It does drip directly on the stearing gear box) What started as a drip a few days ago has turned into a full blown leak I can not get out of the neiborhood with out dumping a quart of ps fluid on the ground. Needless to say I have no power braking or steering at this point and as you can imagine that is not fun with a 7600 lb truck. Get the leak fixed asap before it gets worse. I think I am ging to demand a new ps box to because I am afraid mine is damaged from running it dry.
