I've just turned 35000 mi. and I have started seeing small (3/8 inch) black oil spots on my concrete driveway where I park.

I've been watching an oily spot around the small hole at the bottom of the bellhousing for several months but it has just recently started to spot the driveway.

Since I have less than a 1000 miles left on my 36/36 warranty I'm wondering how much it has to leak to be fixed under warranty?

At what point will they say "That's within reasonable tolerances"?

I'm thinking it's getting progressively worse, (no drips on conc. until recently) and I'm soon going to be out of warranty.

Checking under the truck it's definitely coming from the bellhousing not the breather pipe, although they are both wet with a drip hanging.

I'm taking it to a local Dodge dealer this week and I would like have some info. about what to expect.

Any experiences or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,Ray

What I thought was a leaky rear main turned out to be the return line banjo bolt on the back of the head leaking, it was loose. Would usually only drip when cold then go away, looked like oil because of the gunk it was picking up on the way down.

You should have 100K on the engine/drivetrain warranty if it's an '06.

It probably is coming from the breather vent and getting blown back when you drive. It gets worse the older the oil is. Are you trying long intervals?

It's easy to take that little cover off. It's just a cover for access to the TC bolts... no gaskets or anything. It should be dry in there.

its most likely not the rear main. its probably the rear cam seal. i had that issue also. when i took the trans out to change clutches i pulled the adapter off and it leaked pretty good. all i did was clean the seal and reinstalled it. no leaks since. its been over two years and over 40,000 miles.
