It's leaking right over the DS framerail, at the end of the rubber line. Are these hose clamped from the factory? I've heard that the cooler lines are a common problem, the rubber lines on mine are shot (swelled, hard, etc. )... dealership says I can't just buy the rubber part of the line at the front. The steel parts of mine still look new, like the rest of the truck. I got the leak slowed way down... what's the best cure for this? I don't tow at all, is the air cooler really necessary? I'm going to be doing a single disc TC, VB and flush soon, probably a MH deep pan at the same time for the extra coolant capacity.

If you just need soft lines goto NAPA or some auto parts store and pick up fuel hose (1/2" ID I believe). I wrapped my steel lines in heater hose to keep them from vibrating against each other.

The other option is to pick up some fiitings from Flodar.com and run hydraulic hose. http://www.flodar.com/flare.html

I'd get some hydraulic line, the steel braded rubber reinforced stuff. That's why I have for my cooler to steel lines, as I had the same issue. DON'T use fuel line, it can't take the pressure! Your dealing with 60+psi in those lines.

Josh,

Where does that much pressure come from? There is nothing really restricting the flow through the cooler system. When I had a front plastic connector fail it did not spray ATF. It just dripped a lot. I managed to drive 300 miles to get home. It used up a case of ATF to do that. If there was a lot of pressure it should have spayed all over. The front cooler line was just stuck in the fitting. It pulled out really easy when I was able to get to a place to fix it.

I ran into a less-than-intelligent Mexican guy, who was making a very dangerous & illegal left turn a year or so ago, and I had to drive around for a few weeks without the trans cooler. My trans temp did register hotter in all types of around town driving. This was in Jan. in Los Angeles. On the road, once I locked up, it ran below 140 as it usually does.

The good part of the accident is that I got a new UTE Bullbar for practially nothing! At least Pedro had insurance!
