I recently jacked up yhe rear end of my truck to rotate tires & noticed oil running out of the inspection slot in the bell housing. It appeared to be trans oil. Took it to dealer & of course they can't find anything. I waited a few weeks & jacked the truck up again, again oil ran out of slot. This time I video taped it. Took truck back & had them raise rear of truck & of course nothing happens. Showed them the tape & was told that until they see it themselves there is nothing they can do. Imagine that. It happens after a few days of driving, Rear wheels off the ground about 3" & it doesn't drain much, about a 3-4" dia. circle on floor. I checked the oil level & its barely below the filler hole. Has anyone else had this problem or have any suggestions. I think it's the input shaft seal but dealer refuses to pull trans. to investigate. Thanks

This caught my interest because of the leak. Mine was coming from the other end though. What I thought was the output shaft seal leaking was actually the rubber plug ( looks like a brake drum plug but larger) on the top side of the tailshaft housing. A little black silicone around the underside cured it all. Sorry my tip doesn't help you at the front end.

Just had some transmission work done to my 5-speed- bearings, synchro rings and South Bend clutch and when I got it back I noticed it was leaking transmission oil from what looked like the bell housing. Took it back to the shop and they had the transmission all but back out when they determined that they had overfilled the transmission on the bench and then put it in the truck. They drained it to the proper level and havent had any trouble since. Dont know if this would pertain to you or not but its possible.
