Leaks- Rear Axle,Front Pinion, HP Trans Line

I have a 2006 4x4 Mega Cab with 47k miles. Just got my truck out of the shop for repairs on the rear axle seals, front pinion seal and a high pressure transmission line leak. Is this a common problem? The high pressure trans line is underneath the windshield washer reservoir. The engine will run forever but everything will fall apart! I assume none of the above is covered under warranty.

I know the front pinion seal is... I had mine replaced under warranty.

I don't think they are common, but I'm not sure they were actually "leaking" either. On the differential was the oil level at the factory level (about 1/2 to 3/4 inch BELOW the plug) or filled until it came out the fill hole? Have the brake rotors and hubs been off the truck before. If so they may have been nicked. Was oil actually leaking or dripping on the ground or just a wet spot showing. If it was not dripping on the ground it was probably an unnecessary repair, especially the pinion. More problems are created by pulling the pinion nut than anything else.

Not sure about the oil level in the differential. The brake rotors and hubs have never been off the truck. I noticed oily residue all over the inside of the back wheels and on the metal plate guard. As far as the front pinion the shop said it was leaking but i had never noticed anything on the driveway. So my question is this, the rear seals and front pinion are not covered in the 100K mile warranty/drivetrain? is that just the engine that is covered? thanks for your help

Good question I have the same residue/leak on the driver's side rear axle. But I'll bet it's not covered, good luck though.

I just did a LOF and noticed that my front pinion seal is leaking too This would be the first wear and tear mechanical problem. 68K on the clock... .

Any one look to see where the engine crank case vent tube ends? On my rig it is right over the front pinion seal and is lookslike the seal is leaking but it is not it is just the mist blowing out of the engine vent... ... ... ..... Many pinion seals have been replaced due to this... .....

The pinion seal is covered by powertrain warranty if you have it, 3/36 if not, not the 100,000 mile engine warranty.

The rear wheel seals have always been a bit of gray area. They are technically not an axle seal covered by powertrain warranty, but are considered to be a wheel or brake seal. If you picture a non full floating axle seal that seals the axle tube to the axle shaft, that is covered. But since a full floating axle used on 2500 trucks and up, and 1500 Mega Cab trucks seals the hub to the axle it should not be covered. But most dealers will cover it and get authorization for the repair from the DM.
