I had my 04 up in the air today to do the oil change. It just turned 51,000 miles. This is my first deisel.

I notced the part above the power steering pump is dripping fluid out the bottom which looks to be diesel fuel. Since this is my first diesel. What is this part. Is it some type of fuel pump ?

Also noticed two wet oily areas. The area under the timing cover ans alos the bottom of the bellhouseing and back of the oil pan is wet. Neither is enough to drip on the ground but they are leaking.

I have the 100k warranty, so I'll probably just bring it to the dealer and see what they have to say.

Anyone else having any leaks ?

Thanks,

Nick

The part leaking diesel fuel sounds like the CP3 injection pump. There have been some reports of the seals on these pumps starting to leak during cold weather.

The other oil leaks might be actually coming from the oil breather tube that hangs down, and therefore could be normal. The dealer can determine that easily enough.

When I first saw this on my 03 I thought for sure the rear main seal was out in it. Then saw the fluid in the front pinion seal area and followed it up to the breather tube.

I thought the same thing about the breather tube, but it's wet by the breather tube, then dry on the driver corner of the pan, but wet on the passenger corner of the pan.

I'm going to try and extend the breather tube away from the engine a bit and then clean everything and see if it reappears.

Thanks
