My transfer case front output shaft seal is leaking.

I did a search, but did not find what I am looking for.

Does anyone have the Dodge part#'s for the output seal, the companion flange rubber seal, and the companion flange nut? My local 5 star Stealer is confused and I am afraid they will order me the wrong parts! :(

My service manual says to replace the companion flange nut when replacing the seal. This seems odd to me... . Is this right, and why does it need to be discarded?

Thanks! :D

FWIW, I have an NV241LD transfer case... . ;)

I don't have any part #'s but I might be able to help w/ the companion nut question. It should be a locking nut and it looses it tension ( or locking ability ) after it is backed off. You could re-use it if you put a dimple in the threads to give it a better hold so it does not want to back out. Just put the nut on the ground ( hard flat concrete ) companion flange side down and strike it on one side in the middle to put a dent in the top row or two of the threads- do this on the other side as well. This should give you somewhat of a locking nut effect and serve well and not back off. The nut is a softer metal than the T/C pinion shaft and should not hurt the shaft threads. Good Luck and get another parts person - if they don't understand a simple part like that they might want to re-think there job choice. Thomas

P. S. A new nut is always best but this can be done if one is not available - and therte is always Loctite - thread locking compound.

Try These...

Dug around in my receipts and came up with these numbers from my '96.

Seal - 4762899

Nut - 4167924

Washer- 4210973
