leaky seals

MY Driver side rear axle seal goes about every 20k since the truck was new, there are alot of rear axle seal problems on the dana 70's. I called dana direct and they admit there was a problem on my and later (96&97)year axles. Don't know about the newer trucks though.

814 -Replace Vaccuum Pump (bad shaft seal)
3,367 -Replace Steering Gear Box (bad output shaft seal)
6,808 -Replace Steering Gear Box (bad output shaft seal)
14,625 -Recall 788, Low Pressure Fuel Line
14,625 -Recall 799, NOx reflash
15,265 -Replace rear Pinion Seal
18,911 -Replace Vacuum Pump(bad shaft seal)
23,154 -TSB reflash Cruise
27,300 -Replace X-fer Case Rear Output Seal
31,734 -Replace X-fer Case Rear Output Seal
32,847 -Replace Vacuum Pump (bad shaft seal)
32,847 -Replace X-fer Case Rear Output Seal, Extension, Bushing, & Driveshaft Yoke

I had that problem and there's a post on it here somewhere. Basically it took me 9 trips to my 5 star dealer and then arbitration before I got a new transfer case. They tried everything (numerous seal replacements, driveshafts, etc) and were about ready to start modifying the seal spring. The arbitration was heated... they acted like they were doing me a favor by honoring my warranty (no mods at that point). Anyhow, this probably isn't much help other than emotional support because they never did find out what the issue was. Good luck.
