The rear end of my six speed transmission started leaking where it mates to the T-case. The dealer wanted $600 to reseal it:--) Since I'm not rich and sometimes not too lazy I figured I'd do it my self.

A buddy of mine suggested that I just loosen the bolts and slide the T-case back and RTV the sucker. I've got them seperated and there was no gasket or sealant between them and it dumped out a fair amount of transmission oil. Now I don't have the workshop manual to consult and was wondering if what I'm doing by RTV'ing it is right or if I should replace the seal? Is there even a seal on the rear of the transmission that's gone bad? Anybody with experience on the six-speed or has a transmission manual, your help would sure be appreciated right now. Thank You! There is a seal in both the transmission and the transfer case. There are also two different ball bearings on the transferr case input shaft one style is a double row bearing the other is a single row. I think they are interchangable.

Thanks for the input guys. I put it all back together and I'm buying the seals and the manuals and I'm sealing it up right next weekend. I guess I should have done my homework first and not listened to my buddy who doesn't even own a Dodge. Lessoned learned. If anybody else has some tips on the job they would be much appreciated. I'm definitely not paying the dealer $600 for that job. Thanks Guys!
