A slight leak has begun after changing my auto-trans fluid 5k miles ago. It is at the speedo/odometer sensor on the LHS of the trans. (A518). From reading the search forums and the D/C shop manual (pg. 8E-3) it seems that the "adapter o-ring" is what needs replacing. Has anyone done this  What should I look-out for? I would like to stop the leaking, but I don't want to mess it up #@$%! . The speedo/odometer work fine. What size is the "O" ring? I bought one a couple of years ago thats- 4. 5mm/1. 75" OD. Is this the correct size? Thanks in advance for any help :D , Patrick.

There is a seal that goes into the speedometer pinion housing... if memory serves me right it was about 1/4" long, so I don't think an o-ring will work. The seal can be had from the dealer.

An O-ring...

Just a $2. 95 o-ring from the dealer, on hold-down bolt :-laf No leak today :D Same dimensions mentioned in first post... Patrick

Are you talking about this one? My bad I was thinking of the one inside the housing to seal the pinon shaft.

O-ring part #

O-ring part # 6035709 at Redlands Dodge-Redlands Auto Center.

909-793-2141, (Redlands CA 92370), ask for Ryan at the parts counter, tell him I sent you :D Is the housing in the picture (great picture!) made of metal  ? If yes, where did you get that one? Patrick.

The housing is aluminum, it came on my Getrag. As far as I know the Getag & older auto trannys used the same one, just the pinon gear was different.
