Well I believe its time to get rid of my 1997 12 valve with 260K miles... . buying a 04 2500, 4WD with 116K miles.

Anything to be aware of? I have been in 12V land for years... .

Anyone got advice? I need to lift it or level it and put some 35's on it. Anyone got pics of anything similar?

Thanks

All I can say is enjoy!! If it has 116,000 on it, chances are all the stuff that went wrong has now been corrected. Might want to ck and see if the fuel pump has failed and been replaced with the intank one. Thats all I can thik of, I loved my 04 2500. I also have a 1996 12 valve 5 speed with 105,000 miles. Runs awesome and I have been offered lots of $$$$ for it.

I've known this truck since new... ... transmission flush/service twice, oil fuel filter/air filter every 5K, and all highway miles for business.

It has new shocks, tires, and has never had anything go wrong. No pumps, injectors, etc.

The way my luck is..... it will probably puke when I get it and start to baby it.

@ 240 K miles... . my 97 still runs very strong and is a straight, solid rig..... I'm still cleaning up the duramax and PS boys..... but have a third kid coming in two weeks and have a chance to sell and move into an 04.

I have a guy that wants to give me 14K or at the least 13. 5K..... I can get in to the 04... 4 door... for 16-17K.

So when you talk about 3000 to 3500 diffence it doesn't feel too bad...

Any thoughts? the 04 has 116K miles and is straight and I know the history..... rough decisions... .

What do you think low dollar should be on my truck? (check sig. )

I hope it all works... I should know tomorrow... ... my buddy's 04 is a real nice rig.

I might have to come down to 13,000 to get mine sold... . but even at that... with the 04 costing me 16K-17K... I don't believe I can go wrong.

I imagine that the 04 will need ball joints before long and I will have to keep an eye on the transmission. It has been serviced, but being a slushbox with hauling most its life (116 miles), it is just a matter of time.

Bowhunter, as a fellow Missourian, welcome to the 3rd Gen... I've been there, it's a nice graduation. Sounds like you have a nice deal lined up. How's the truck outfitted? Gauges? That would be my first consideration and I would include a fuel pressure gauge. Since the lift pump is original... it may not have much left. I would definitely consider a Glacier fuel system with the 2 micron filter addition. After that the only worry is the automatic, sounds like you have a good realistic grasp of that though. Congratulations on both additions... the one that really counts and the truck! ;)

I'm excited about the 04... but it looks as if I will have to take less for my 97..... 12-12. 5K to get this deal to work.

Anyone have pics they could direct me to of a 3rd generation with 35's... and leveling kit/small lift?

Great looking truck.....

Does anyone have trouble running a 35x12. 50 on a 17x9 rim with less backspacing... say 4. 5 "?

I want the tires to hand outside the wheel wells a little. .
