Hi all,

I've searched the forum for relevant info to help me choose LED headlight replacements for my 2012 RAM 3500 truck but did not see any applicable answers.

My truck has the quad headlights and one of the lower beam headlights is not working. To replace the headlight(s) I first have to remove a large, heavy moose guard.

I don't have dash light info that tells me that the light is not working; I thought my truck has the CANBUS system but now I'm not sure.

Anyway, who there has replaced their headlights with LEDs and where and what type did you buy them? And, are you satisfied???

Thanks

Hey Larry,

I see no one hit you back on this. May I suggest searching Amazon and Ebay, my two favorite sources, and check the reviews. Also recommend searching YouTube as well, always lots of great info. Just too much work for me to upgrade without a failure because in addition to normal effort to replace, I have a stainless steel grill/brush guard that would make it a full day job. I have the premium lights on my 2017 Ram 5500 and they work pretty good.

Anyway, please update what you find. Hope my input helped some.

Cheers, Ron

I have a third gen truck and installed LED head lights and fog lights from two different manufactures. I used LumaWerx H13 for my head lights and Xtreme Fog Lights 9006. I have included a link to both companies for you to review. https://lumawerx.com/ (head lights) and the (fog lights) https://www.xenondepot.com/9006-Xtreme-LED-kit-pro-p/xt-led-9006-pro.htm

They are both just plug and play units. Both have electronics to allow them to work with the existing CANBUS circuits so, you do not get a light out issues.

You might be able to contact both of these companies to see what would work for you.

Just thought I would add one more thing.... My wife's 2019 Ram 1500 has OEM LED lights and they are really cool. The super white light is very clean and seems to light way better. I upgraded to LED lights for everything on my 2014 Jeep, and couldn't be happier.

Look forward to seeing what you find and how easy/hard the project is.

Cheers, Ron

Basic information, switcheing from Incandescent to LED Bulbs will always produce blind and dark spots in the beam, that is how an LED works, they dont have a 360° light output like an incandescent.

I personally never had good results with this cross over lights.

That's why I choose the brand that I did these are design to operate in the Dodge 3rd Gen head and fog light housings. In the instructions for the lights, the lights must be clocked to agree with the housing for optimum light out put and no blind spots. Not all LEDS or HIDs will work in the Dodge/Ram light housings. I installed the LED's lights in Jan. 2019, and have operated now for 6+ months. I am extremely happy with the light coverage and ability to see down the road with the LED's improved light out put over the incandescent bulbs.

The reflector need s be designed for the LED's to work right since they have a "blind spot" as Ozy points out. The same goes for HID's
Interesting! That explains the small rectangular shape on My wifes 2019 1500. I installed LED bulb replacements in my 2014 Jeep and they work good enough. $50 replacement LED bulbs beat the $200 to $500+ replacement LED headlamps, and mine work pretty good.

Good info, so if one of my halogens fails on the premium lighting on my 2017 Ram 5500, I will likely keep halogen... they work great.

Thanks, Ron
